NFFE Local 1450 Settles 4 more EEOC complaints in HUD Los Angeles CPD

The spirit of cooperation and collaboration in labor-management relations between HUD management and NFFE Local 1450 has continued.
The HUD Los Angeles Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD) and the Union settled four Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaints that were originally filed in 2006 – 2007 with the assistance of the Office of General Counsel (OGC) and CPD Headquarters.
Management and the Union settled the cases recognizing their mutual gain in allowing the Agency and our Union members closure, to resolve hurt feelings and misunderstandings, improve communication, to increase morale and productivity in carrying out the Agency’s mission without continuing with the administratively time-consuming and burdensome EEOC hearings process.
Compromise settlement remedies were reached for each case acceptable to both parties. The cases concerned: performance appraisal reprisal/national origin discrimination; harassment/hostile work environment, non-selection and reprisal; disciplinary reprisal; and harassment and hostile work environment.
We thank our partners in Los Angeles and Headquarters CPD and OGC for their leadership and collaboration to achieve the mission of HUD in a positive and productive work environment particularly: Los Angeles CPD Program Managers, Chin Woo Choi and Wayne Itoga, Los Angeles CPD Director, William Vasquez, Los Angeles CPD Deputy Director, Bob Ilumin, CPD Director of Field Management, Ronald Herbert, General Deputy Assistant Secretary of CPD, Nelson Bregón, OGC Attorneys Kim Marlia, Mike Propst, Silvia de la Cruz, and Jeffrey Burns, Regional Counsel Bill Elsbury, Deputy Regional Counsel, Kim Nash, and Region 6 Chief Counsel, Timothy Hartzer.
