HUD and NFFE Local 1450 Settle Four EEO Complaints!

In a win-win situation for both management and the Union, HUD settled a Union member’s U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEOC) complaint regarding harassment over time and attendance issues and retaliation. The settlement occurred after the Union prevailed in a discovery motion to compel in which the EEOC administrative judge ordered HUD to produce all documents requested rejecting the Agency’s Privacy Act and relevance objections. The Agency did not admit to liability and the employee’s remedies were met making an extended hearing process unnecessary.

Management has also agreed to settle in principle another Union member’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaint about being retaliated against in the performance appraisal for previously filing an EEO complaint against the supervisor. The employee’s performance appraisal was increased above the Fully Successful level.

Management also agreed earlier in the year to sign settlement agreements with two other Union members who had filed Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaints. One was a performance rating matter wherein the employee's performance rating was increased to "Highly" and the other a Hostile Workplace Environment claim which was settled to the employees' satisfaction.

These four EEO settlements signal improved and collaborative labor-management relations!
