President Brown and Assistant Kerner Visit NFFE Locals in San Francisco Friday, May 4, 2007 (National Federation of Federal Employees) San Francisco, CA — Last week NFFE National President Richard N. Brown and Assistant to the President Cassie Kerner visited Northern California on behalf of the NFFE National Office. Brown and Kerner traveled to San Francisco where they met up with NFFE Business Representative Jan Thompson. The group visited Local 1, the San Francisco VA Medical Center. There they were given a tour of the hospital by Patricia La Sala, Local President and NFFE National Vice President. During the tour they had the opportunity to speak with a number of NFFE members, as well as management representatives. They also visited the VA’s clinic in downtown San Francisco, which specializes in the treatment of homeless veterans. In addition, the three visited the San Francisco office of Local 1450, which represents HUD employees. Brown spoke during the Local’s membership meeting, advocating the benefits of union membership and updating attendees on the National Office’s efforts on issues currently affecting the Local. Local 1450 President Elizabeth McDargh hosted the group at the HUD office. Finally, Brown, Kerner, Thompson and McDargh visited the San Francisco Regional Office of the Federal Labor Relations Authority. They met with Regional Director Gerald Cole and generally discussed the relationship between HUD officials and employees. “We had a very successful trip,” said Brown. “I thank Presidents La Sala and McDargh for their hospitality. It is always a rewarding and invigorating experience to get out and visit members in the field.”
